Mike, you probably know about the spring-loaded cab bolts. They gotta go back in. I think the cowl section is mounted solid. The bolt nearest the steering column is usually mounted without a spring, for sure.

Re: C35 'pickup'

Thanks for the tip Don. I am planning to reuse the springs. I think they compensate for frame flexing. I thought that my cab had springs on all six bolts (big ones in the back) but you are probably right about the bolt nearest the steering column not having one, that makes sense. Same way my '39 Dodge cab is mounted.
This is my last old truck, unless I find another one.

Re: C35 'pickup'

Starter teeth on my flywheel are half chewed up.
First time I've tried this, but what the hey -
I knocked the gear ring off the flywheel using a cold chisel, then ground an indent on each tooth on the opposite side of the ring using a Dremel grinding disk.
Putting it together was simple, just 20 minutes in the freezer for the flywheel, 20 minutes in the oven for the ring and voila:

Done that out in the field, on a piece of equipment when a replacement wasn't readily available.

I like the way that ring pops when you cut it off.

Re: C35 'pickup'

When I did it, outside, I just knocked it off, flipped it and took my rosebud tip and heated the gear with it layed over the flywheel, the mass of the flywheel keep it heating up too much, and the gear expands and drops into place. Once it cools, it is locked in place.
The teeth are fairly weak, missing half their length, so isn't a permanent repair, but will get you going.

Re: C35 'pickup'

Merry Christmas to me! Just received a pile of parts for the C35 - pistons, liners, bearings, valves, guides, springs, and king pins. Guess I know where I'll be for the foreseeable future!

Where did you find wet-liners and pistons for a FAB?
