Until recently, these old shafts were available locally in Fresno at Romo's Auto Wrecking. They had antique driveshafts stacked like firewood.
I saved as much of it as I could. I grabbed every red set of Mechanic's U Joint shafts I saw.
Unfortunately, the City if Fresno was on a "Keep America Clean" thing about ten years ago and forced Romo's out of business. They still have tow trucks, though. Including antique ones.
I bought what parts I could afford.
I was hoping Romo's would attain "Historic" status having been open for 90 years, but no.
Short-sighted morons!
It just looked like JUNK to The City.
Seriously, you really have to have an eye out EVERYWHERE, now. Ebay. Craigslist.
I just saw a 90 year old hard rubber dual tread truck tire out out by a mailbox in Dinuba. I'm going to grab it.
