Well after countless hours of cleaning I have the Transmission ready and most of the engine back together.

Re: 1926 S-26 IHC Custom

Well im back at it, I decided to buy an English wheel to reshape the fenders and inner fender skirts.

I must say its easier than I thought, but not too easy to go the wrong way.

Re: 1926 S-26 IHC Custom

Brighad...the english wheel isn't damaged by the pitting in the metal?
Everything I have that age has deep surface rust. Pitted. So I'm guessing that the rust must be completely removed before doing the english wheel treatment?
Is it too much to ask for a video of you with one of those old fenders on the english wheel?
Thanks!
Awesome work!

Re: 1926 S-26 IHC Custom

I have rust on the underside and its not marking the dies. As for a video, its easier to go on U-Tube and watch the videos that Tom Peach and Eastwood Tools have. That's what I watched before trying it.

So far its working well to remove the imperfections, I banged out the dents and then worked it on the wheel. Its basically just in need of high build primer, I don't think I will need to add any filler.

I removed a large patch and cut the previous welds with a zip cut, it was stick welded in a few places. By the looks of the Welds, it appears to have been repaired by the farmers. Nothing fancy, just keep it together and running.

We did find a lot of hair cracks, most likely caused on impact when the fenders were struck. There were some spider web cracks coming off of the welded areas.

This is what the fender looked like on the truck. I did start with the worst side, the other side will be a breeze I hope.

Nice work - I agree, no filler needed!
This is my last old truck, unless I find another one.

After an hour of pounding, the front apron is ready to wheel. Once piece at a time, getting closer to the rust soaking stage.
