1955 R-110 Cummins Swap "Monty"

Well here it is, my R-110 with a 4bt with a Holset hx30w turbo and a slighty modified VE pump. For a transmission I have a Ford ZF5. It also has a Ford 8.8 rearend with 3.73 limited slip gears. I started the build in March of this year(2017) finished it in April. For first 200 miles it had the Borg Warner t-19 that came with the motor, but 55mph at wide open was less then optimal. So an over drive transmission was the way to go. Since then I have about 450+ miles total on the swap and it has been pretty much flawless since. I have been getting 24+ mpg in town so that i have been pretty happy with as diesel has been pretty cheap. Here in the next month or so Im going to be converting the front axle to a Dana 44 from a Early Bronco. This will give me power steering, coil springs, and a 3 inch lift. My main goal is to have it look like a 4x4 r120.

you usually have to import them to paint and shrink them to under 500kb, or they won't upload

Re: 1955 R-110 Cummins Swap

The Cummins 4bta is a nearly perfect fit in the L,R.& S trucks. The Cummins engine may weigh less then the IHC lump. You may know we were building an L110 with Cummins 4bta/automatic power. The pickup is called Shorty on this forum. I bought the 4bta on Craigslist not running. I do not remember the price, but I am thiking it might have been around $1500 and then I had NW Diesel rebuilt the injection pump which brought the cost of the engine up to about $3000.
I have an older picture of the first start and run for our Cummins. The shop and contents have changed a lot since this video. https://youtu.be/_U5M6eIQpZk
