Is there another type of oil filter that can be used inside the original cannister other than the cloth type. I don't want to change the filter to a spin on type.

Have seen some comments on one of the Facebook pages about a "replacement" for the sock style, Thinking the things I read were not super positive, however I have NO personal knowledge.

Short answer is no. Engines could have the Deluxe brand (sock type) or Michiana brand (paper element) houseing. The filters are not interchangeable between housings. Deluxe was the most common on the later stuff.

I have a question about my 1956 S120. I brought it in out of the field, I'm beginning to restore it, and I want to replace the oil filter. The one in it is a Fram C-121E. The oil filter body is made by Deluxe Product Corporation and stamped on the cap is "Use CU cartridge." I'd like to know if there is a source for the oil filter, Fram or any other company. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Dean, do the filters you posted fit in the 51 engine as well?

At least '50-early '57, probably some other years, as long as it has the Deluxe filter housing. https://oldihc.wordpress.com/2012/11/30/ih-oil-filters/
