Hey guys, Great site for these special vehicles and this 'sub-exotic' species of trucks! The IH around here (Canadian Prairies) is considered "rare-cool" because although they're well-known, they have always been way outnumbered by the big three of course - and this particular build is even more of a rarity - as it's a 4x4 - which aren't seen around here much and when finished might rival the Dodge Powerwagon in cool-factor!

I'm a little late to this blog-party however, so I'll put a sampling of what's happened to date on here, but if you want to see the build in more detail, you can check out my personal blog, which starts here: http://e-tekrestorations.blogspot.ca/2015/05/setting-ih-4x4-up-for-dissassembly.html (I hope that's OK with OldIHC - but let me know if it isn't!). You'll have to wade through a few other builds I'm also working on, but there's tons of IH stuff to keep you going!).

Here's the family that dropped it off last year...I hope to be be able to show them a finished truck before those little ones get married! :t3716:

Today, (after about 450 hours of metal and filler work!), it looks like this: Image

Being a 1-man show, I'm now looking at a few months of block sanding, a second priming and then (hopefully!) a final sanding before getting it into paint! Then the fun begins...!

Thanks for letting me join this awesome forum! :D

Looks like very nice work.
I've seen a few "ranch" S Series 4WD trucks, here. Nothing as straight as yours!
Good luck with your project.

Thanks, etec, after looking at your blog, I see you are busy. Have fun with the project, I see the little guys like the old truck too.

etec, I was looking at your blog again, wow, wondering if you made or purchased you box floor material. A friend is doing a 55 IH and looking for similar material

I have to think you are doing this restoration the right way. There is no short-cut to a good finish. Your base work will make the final paint look as good as it possibly can. Some of the work I see on these old trucks is terrible and the finished truck will look like crap. Paint reflects the preparation work.
Our 1940 Ford has hundreds of hours into the body work and the painting was done in a few days. The hood has 30 hours and each door about 20 hours.
