Brandon's S-110

Hello All,

My name is Brandon and I have a 1957 S-110 with a 264 black diamond. The truck used to belong to my babysitter when I was young and later my father bought it as a project for me when I was 17. It has sat for 5 years and now that I have a place to work on it, I brought it down to the Vancouver area. My plan for the truck is to strip it all down and fix any problems in the frame and body and rebuild it with a front end from Fatman Fabrications, a small block chevy (about 400 hp), and put in a turbo 400 transmission.

Here is a picture of the truck shortly after I got it, I had removed the front body pieces to get at the engine.

Some pictures of the small block chev and transmission that I am going to rebuild and put into the truck. They both came out of a 1980s chev pickup. The engine is a 4 bolt main and it has been rebuilt once to 4.010.

Re: Brandon's S-110

Next I took off the rear and front end. I knew that the front end was stock but the last owner had blown the original rear end and they put in something they found in the ditch. I was pretty happy to find out that what they had put in was a Dana 44 with 3.73 gears. So I will be keeping that and will just rebuild it. I will have to get some new axle shafts though as they are a little twisted and are 5 by 5.5" bolt pattern. I will put in some new ones with 5 by 4.5" to match my front end.

Re: Brandon's S-110

This last weekend I got to taking off the cab and having a good look at the frame. It is in really nice shape. There was only one bent cross member at the very back of the frame. I have cut it out and will be looking to see if I can salvage one from my parts truck. Now that everything is all off it is time to disassemble all the individual parts and take the body and frame in to sand blast it all.

Yeah I know I got lucky with that. Just have to replace that one piece and everything else should be good.

If you are in the Vancouver, BC area, try Air Strip in Richmond. They do great work. If you use "sand" blasted for sheet metal cleaning the panels will be destroyed.
http://www.osairstrip.ca/ these guys do the best metal cleaning in this area.

Welcome to the site! Your truck looks like a great place to start. I have an S series, too.
