I think I should start a new thread for this upcoming IHC project. I cannot say for sure when this build will start but it will be about a year from now, minimum.
I have been collecting the parts and pieces. I need somewhere to park/post the pieces that have arrived and continue to follow me home. So, I will be moving a few posts from L110 Shorty to here.
This truck will be Cummins 24 valve powered with an NVG4500 transmission,an NVG241dld transfercase and DANA 60 axles. The front is an F350 DANA 60 High Pinion and the rear is an E350, DANA 60, both with disc brakes and 8 X 6.5" bolt pattern.
The cab I have is an IHC-ORRVILLE Metal Specialty "R" crewcab. Because of sever damage inflicted to the upper rear outside of the cab, I will be replacing the single back window of the crewcab with the rear twin window cab repair pieces.
I hope this will be interesting and maybe a little controversial. This will be my last truck build. After this is done I want to get out and drive some of our stuff. Right now, I an waiting for Doctor's clearance to return to the shop. Time and old age can be less than kind, but the future looks good, for me.

The Bearded Wonder arrived today, on time, with my frame in tow. The frame is a little heavier than I thought it might be. After some cleaning and removing the OEM unwanted pieces, the frame could lose a couple hundred kilograms. The frame has a bucket of petrified grease in the frame around the service areas.
The frame is in nearly perfect condition and only shows minor surface rust in one place. I am pleased that there are no junk pieces BS welded to the frame.
This frame appears to be dead straight and solid. Unlike many of the old IHC frames, I have owned, these OEM rivets are all tight.

The cab was made for IHC by ORRVILLE METAL SPECIALTY COMPANY. This cab is a three door because the fourth door behind the driver was welded shut and faired in with lead. This will be a four door cab when it is finished.

Me also.
Here a few pictures of the DANA 60 axles that will go into this truck.
The transmission came from Calgary, AB and the transfer case came from City Auto Parts, Edmonton, AB
I bought the Cummins 24 valve at an insurance auction.
I have not owned a manual transmission vehicle in about 30 years. City life and heavy traffic is better handled with an automatic transmission, I think. Turbo Diesel engines and automatics are a perfect match. A Diesel with a standard is OK, in town. I would not likely buy a truck with a gas engine and a standard.

Bringing home the Cummins 24 valve engine was one of the last jobs for our R120 before I retired it. The box and major parts from this "R" cab will go into the crewcab repair.

Controversial, yes. Little or no OEM stock. That may be controversial. When all else fails I will announce silicone brake fluid and 15-40 oil from Walmart.

I'm very interested in this build! Will the wheelbase of your new frame be altered or is it a match for what you need? I'm curious what the height, width and thickness of your frame is at the middle (largest) part. It looks like the front section has the needed strength for your engine. IMO the stock RLS 100-130 front frame is not beefy enough for a 6 cylinder diesel.
