Double trouble

Well I got a call from my Dad the other day, said he was through driving. This meant it was time for me to pick up another pickup. A few years ago I built a truck for him. Predictably it was a long bed IH on a suburban chassis, go figure. The cab is a 54 with a waterfall grill, cause that's the way he wanted it. It was built on an 89 chassis so it has a 350 TBI and 700R4 trans. It may some day be my son's truck, but I don't know for sure. My son is 12 now and won't be driving for a few years. I have been considering selling this truck, going to think it over, not do anything to quick.

Re: Double trouble

I applaud the 1989 Suburban frame swap.
Supposed to be "easy". (Yeah, right).
Works for K series, too. A local contractor did one.

Beautiful Truck, Love the yellow color. Do not make fun of me, I have for rigs that are currently yellow. The thought is that it should be easy to see, and therefore not get hit. So far has not worked for the Nissan Exterra.

Re: Double trouble

During the build of this vehicle my Dad told me to paint it " the brightest **** yellow you can get". He wanted it to stand out, mission accomplished.
I have to do some projects on the yellow truck. the first of which is to change out the 3.42 axles for a set of 3.73 axles. This truck has 32" tall tires, which are like brand new. The truck runs to low RPMs and gets bogged down a lot. The higher gear axles should help. If I could find 6 lug axles with 4.10 gears for cheap I would do that, but those are hard to find.

Bright yellow colours help our bad drivers take better aim. There is nothing better than a direct full on hit. Glancing blows look so amateurish, unless a person is taking aim at a suddenly opened driver's door.

Re: Double trouble

I blame my Oldest, apparently he thought his big Chev suburban would fit between my xterra and the 53' slant deck. All he had to do was back up 15' and he would have cleared everything. Still waiting for that " I'll get it fixed dad". Love all my Children.

Re: Double trouble

It was on CL for a while. I may wait until spring to sell, got a few things to fix in the mean time.
