Harvey, 1955 R-112 Our Fishing Rig

Took a ride in the country , it was a nice day

Though not 100% original due to some wood enhancements we did that include a tailgate insert,
rear bumper , bed crown and interior details rounded out on our otherwise all
stock refurbished fishing rig.
Much of the wood was milled from a redwood community water tank demolished in 2001.
All wood enhancements including the interior cab doors ,the kick-panels , the headliner ,the cab floor and , the exterior running board trim strips
as well as the tailgate are fastened directly to original components in such as way , so not to alter the integrity of truck as build. No metal screws ect..
I think there is a word for my disorder :)

! Its all original inside with the exception of this under dash lit I love Lucy
themed alarm clock, however the movie was made in 1955 same year as the truck,

hows that for one in a million garage sale find.

Thanks for looking and be safe

Something does not seem right with that photo. Where is the shadow from the left front tire. The left rear has a shadow. That country looks more like the Mid West than California. The Binder may be out of proportion to the picture. Where are the tire tracks in the dry dirt?

If I had not been out for a ride with grandma that day and
taken the photo my self , I would agree. but

We were driving by the farm and I could not resist the way the farmer
had decorated his hay crop...
Its in Amon Idaho.

Light conditions give it a photo-shopped look but its not , really
kinda looks like a movie backdrop... now that you bring it up - kinda cool :)

Grandma likes to ride in Ole Harvey.. That day we galavanted all around the countryside like a couple of kids.

We took 1st place on that weekend:

As far as I was concerned for me it was more for the ride we had together than for the show. :)

Re: IHC - ,1955 R-112 Our Fishing Rig

I wish my Grand Mother had been around much longer. By the late 1960s, she was gone. The older generation was fun and they did not think so.
My Father's parents were driving to Calgary to visit with us in about 1960. They lived in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
As my grandparents were driving through Red Cliff, just outside of Medicine Hat, Grampa stopped to pickup a hitch-hiker who was holding a cardboard sign saying CALGARY. Grandmother was not comfortable about having the French Canadian guy in the closeness of their 1957 VW. Grandmother went into the back seat with the hiker's back-pack and put Pierre in the front passenger seat. As Grandfather tells the story, Grandma got a grip on the VW tire iron and told Pierre, "One wrong move and he gets to meet Jesus." Grandma then took out her bible and started to preach to the trapped Pierre. Grandfather said Pierre converted about six times out of fear of losing his life by the time they reached Calgary.

:) > Hood Closer Tip <

As previously mentioned there were originally factory rubber mushroom bumpers,
good once the hood is closed.

Below are a couple methods I use,

Image

The lay in place rubber bumper , and sometimes I will wedge the rubber IH mats you can see under the
red shop rag and close the hood they stay in place while driving to not only protect the paint but add a bit of connivence
for quick hood openings, and nice fender protectors as your leaning into it and laying tools on the fenders.
In the photo for front is a 1/2 thick piece of felt, makes for nice bumper welts when the hood is closed.
