Re: Little Red build

The best mileage that we saw was 15 mpg. that was in Oregon at relatively low speed limits. The mileage got worse from there, how much worse I am not sure, probably around 12 mpg. As far as weight, the donor suburban will loose about 500 pounds in the conversion process. from 5200 to 4700 pounds with the IH cab and bed. That is not to bad considering it is a V-8 truck with 4WD axles and transfer case.

Re: Little Red build

I put a 6.9 V8 Diesel, automatic, in my R120 along with a 4X4 conversion. The in town mileage was around 18 mpg and the highway economy was over 20 mpg. The top speed was 90 miles per hour in Gearvendors overdrive.
The wipers started to show signs of distress around 60 mph.. The truck seemed stable.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have

Good bye old friend

I have been struggling with this for a time now, but it is time to let go. I have decided to sell My 51 L series aka Little Red. I guess the push has come to shove and my house needs a new heat pump system right now. I won't bore you with the details of this truck as the details are already on this sight.

The Nitty gritty : I will offer this truck to my fellow builders and IH fans first. asking 12K. Somewhat negotiable but do not delay if you have the right kind of fire in your belly send me a PM as this truck is going up on e-bay on thursday June 15th.. PM me if you want to discuss any details of this build. Thank you John

Re: Little Red build

I should have mentioned that this truck does not have to be hauled or trailered, it can haul a** and many other things just fine. If you purchase it just get on out here, hop in and go. John

Of course I will still be around, I am already planning my next build. It will be a while, but I am always looking around for IH trucks. John

Sounds good John. If I can help, let me know. I think you might have some good ones hiding up your way, just not found yet.

I have actually seen one that looks nice. I do not know if it is for sale. I will try to get a photo the next time I see it. John

Re: Little Red build

Sad to see you're selling it but that's the way things go. I saw you at the gas station with it a while ago on my way by but didn't have time to stop. We got that Cummins in my brother's pickup last fall and it's working out great. Really made it into a real pickup that's fun to drive.

Re: Little Red build

That is great news about the end of the sux.5 for that big GMC.

It is a little strange to be selling my IH, but life goes on.
