What your missing is I am in the desert of Arizona and the summers get to around 120 in the day. I don't see any harm in taking precautions

Re: 1956 S-102 Build

That clears up the missing info. But, I still think the original design probably would be sufficient. However, being involved in engineering, I can understand the desire to improve your circumstances.

Did you find that the TSM hoses for the front discs bolted straight in. My connection looks a little different.

Re: 1956 S-102 Build

I have been following your build and just wanted to thank you for taking the "intimidation" out of a project like this. I have a 1954 R112 that I have been "storing" in my garage for 6 years trying to decide which route to go: original or custom. being as the original 6 is seized, I have since decided to go SBF 68' 302 and a 5 speed manual trani with a Ford 9" rear end. Yours will definitely be a head turner for sure. I am hoping to start deconstruction of mine soon. Good luck and look forward to seeing more pics and the finished project! I also wanted to thank you for all the great great advice from your forum and all the of other "knowledgeable persons" involved with this site. There is so much amazing information on this site that its hard to not be mesmerized. thanks again and thanks for the Great idea for lifting the Cab from the frame... I was pondering how to do this in my somewhat vertically challenged 2 car garage but now I think it wont be so terrible!

KSever

Thank you for all the details on your restoration / rebuild. I am still hunting for a project but your thread answers many of the questions that I had running around in my head.

Your truck looks awesome.

Re: 1956 S-102 Build

Thanks guys for taking the time to look at my build, glad you could use some of the info.

I have been messing around with the front disk brake conversion for the last month going back and forth with TSM and their kit. When I installed the calipers they recommended the brake pads would not fit between the caliper bracket and the rotor. I had the 1/8" spacer behind the rotor as stated in the directions but it was not enough. TSM made me a 1/4" spacer and now everything fits well. Now I'm on to plumbing the master cylinder and installing the brake pedal.

K, don't quite follow. When you say "spacer behind the rotor"' are you talking about a spacer that fits over the wheel studs prior to installing the rotor?

That's correct, TSM sends you a 1/8" spacer that fits over the wheel studs to space the rotor out from the hub.

Thanks. Seems like they made things right after coming up short ( or thin) on their product. Giving TSM a long look.
