All of the snow that fell on us is melted and gone. I am waiting for the temperature to get into double digit Celsius so I can brave the great outdoors.

Re: 1952-L110 Shorty.

I was pleased to receive my eBay tachometer. It arrived 2 days early and not damaged. The in-put shaft is stiff, but it turns and activates the needle. 120078
I am going to chuck the gauge in my lathe and carefully roll back the bezel ring. I want to have a sign shop make reproductions of the multi-colored face so I can convert my other vintage IHC tachometers.
I have been watching for one of these 1940s IHC tachometers for more than a decade. I know I paid too much for this tachometer, but, I an not having buyer's remorse.

****, Nikki, that is the BLD tach! I thought you posted the one with 2600 red line! I think I remember you saying the one you posted wasn't the one you bought. Sweet looking tach, a little sewing machine oil should help a lot with the stiffness
If you get a slip decal made, get an extra and I'll buy it from you.

Sorry, not for sale to you. I am getting a dozen or more made and I will send you a few for free. I need to find a shop that can do the work.
I think I have an ides for safely removing the bezel ring from the tachometer. I think I can chuck the tachometer in my MYFOR Super 7 and use a specially ground tool to carefully roll the bezel ring outward.
I may upgrade the case to the newer style that has a light opening.
I will give the tachometer mechanicals a good cleaning and lubrication while I have it apart.
I doubt IHC left this irregular finish on the tachometer bezel rings, they used. I think someone has been in this gauge since it left the IHC factory.
I am thinking that I cam easily turn a few new bezel rings out of aluminium bar stock. This opens up a few additional possibilities, like, a different ring design that could include a slight extension lip to hid the gauge from some reflections.
I need a light duty project like this to get me back up to speed in the shop. I have not been out there in 9 months. Today was to be "the day" but the weather turned wicked and we have a monsoon and sunshine. ?????
You are correct. The original picture I posted is not the tachometer I got. I don't care about that. I like the bright colours. The tachometer will fill a 3.5" hole in the dash that need filling. If the needle bounces and is slow to settle, even better.

Re: 1952-L110 Shorty.

All I can say is Thank You very much! I always admired the K series tach with its color bands, I have a LRS series in one K at the moment, and IIRC 2 non IHC tachs. If that is the case, I will apply any decals to the non IHC unit and pass that on to someone who has that model and a tach drive.
The fellowship here is great, even if the traffic has dropped off a bit recently.
Again thankyou.

Re: 1952-L110 Shorty.

I found a sign shop that is willing to take on the task of making preproduction gauge faces. The cost is in making the copy program. After this, the cost drops significantly. The cost is reasonable and very little more if I have one or 50 made. I will likely have 20 or so made up. The person I talked to appeared to be excited about doing this. Perfect. :t3909:

Great news, It is wonderful to find a shop that is willing to do something "out of the ordinary".
