Ethan, I just heard from JIM, you will need to contact him to set up your account in Gallery. The registration process there is "broken". He will be happy to set up so you can post in the Gallery also.

It is always nice to Have the Gallery for more Photos and even for some of your other vehicles/things.
We really do like "build" threads also.

Ethan, I am curious why your shroud is not installed on the radiator? I don't see any top bolts in there. Was the radiator a direct fit on the 2WD? On the 4WD it has to be modified, because the steering box is mounted higher and more forward.

Yes it was a direct bolt in replacement it has 4 bolts, and It didnt have a shroud when I bought it, thats why the fan is spray painted bright yellow and red

Re: 1952 L-112 progress

You will need to find a fan shroud to make the fan operate properly. The fan blades should be 2/3 inside the shroud and 1/3 out. While the fan is designed to move air from behind the radiator by lowering the air pressure between the rear of the radiator and the shroud then the air in front of the radiator rushes through the radiator to balance the pressure. Fans do not suck...A fan is an air pump that is not a positive displacement pump. If the shroud is missing the air that is moved by the fan is radiated out and then rushes back to the front of the fan to be cycled again and the radiator is cheated. The 1/3 of the fan that is behind the radiator (In the engine compartment closest to the engine) is designed to radiate the air out at approximately 90 degrees to the axis of the fan. Air has mass and the weight of the air when it is being spun around throws it outward. You could put a couple of new radiators out front and without air circulation there will be no cooling.
If you are not able to find an original engine driven fan, you may want to consider installing an electric fan unit. Do not believe all of the big BS numbers that you will read about the performance of the different fans. I will try and find and poste that information.

OK, I found it http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/efanmyth.htm
It is a good read and it exposes the misleading information. Chose wisely Grasshopper.

Re: 1952 L-112 progress

In another thread you reported the overheating due to lack of coolant. The lack of a shroud contributed to that overheating, too. If that alum. radiator is a direct fit, your original shroud should fit or maybe could be modified to fit. If you have to modify it some, just make sure that the edges are reasonably sealed up to insure the air flow is through the fan and not sneaking out around the edges of the shroud. The fan has to pull as much air as it can though the radiator and push it out into the engine bay. Leakage out the sides diminishes the total cooling effect of the fan and radiator.
