Well y’all know your stuff. It would have sucked to get this thing in and have such low compression.
I picked up all my parts from the engine shop yesterday. They still had not repaired my block or crank but they had the head done. Looks really nice. Cleaned, re decked, new valves, guides, seals and pressure checked.
I pulled the head off my free motor. Flat top pistons all 40 over. Much of the cooling holes didn’t line up and the head gasket was leaking as well. The tilt valve head is roughly 7/8 from the surface to the highest point of the combustion chamber and my straight valve head is about 3/8”. Quite a big difference. Also had a bent push rod that was rubbing pretty good so it must have had a stuck valve at some point.

I swapped the oil pans today and panic set it. The 220 oil pan wouldn’t even go on!!! Turns out the free B engine had a different oil pickup. Swapped that and the 220 pan went right on.

Was your original pan a center-sump tractor engine pan?

Getting closer. I was able to get the clunker drivable. We made it once around the ice rink. It’s parked outside until it warms up again.
Engine installed with rebuilt carb, all new gaskets, rebuilt head, new radiator, all new hoses, new fuel pump, new mounting bolts, rebuilt distributor. Surprisingly it fired right up and the generator worked .
Shortened the drive shaft an inch too short. Had to have a new one made.
Floor repaired with new steel. Probably used a whole spool of wire.
Reupholstered the seat.
Raptor liner the bed.
I still need seatbelts, bleed the brakes, gas tank, and turn signals.

Lookin' good. You have definitely have been putting some work in! Nothing easy about the work you did on the cab floor/toe board/box.

All your work looks great. I have one suggestion, you may want to get a low pressure cap, I use to run 4 lbs cap. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

These were not a "pressure" system like newer vehicles, if you put a high pressure cap on the radiator, a good chance you could blow a seam.
