I picked up all my parts from the engine shop yesterday. They still had not repaired my block or crank but they had the head done. Looks really nice. Cleaned, re decked, new valves, guides, seals and pressure checked.
I pulled the head off my free motor. Flat top pistons all 40 over. Much of the cooling holes didn’t line up and the head gasket was leaking as well. The tilt valve head is roughly 7/8 from the surface to the highest point of the combustion chamber and my straight valve head is about 3/8”. Quite a big difference. Also had a bent push rod that was rubbing pretty good so it must have had a stuck valve at some point.
