I've been toying with getting one and using a magnetic base from a cheap dial test indicator from Harbor Freight and/or a small C-clamp to mount it anywhere. We've all heard the stories of dump people getting run over because they were hanging on to the bottom of the vehicle listening/watching for the problem. I could see where a GoPro would come in handy.

Ethan: The muffler was on the truck when I bought it. Sits behind the cab. It does have a nice sound. With no insulating material on the cab it does resonate thru the cab. At some point I will install a new exhaust and most likely move the muffler closer to the rear axle.

Jared: I have some kayaking and Harley riding plans for the Go-Pro camera too. I do get about half car sick watching the bouncy videos. Always good to have
something stationary in the view to help with that. I do like your magnetic base idea. I have a work light I bought From Gizzly.com with a magnetic base that I have mounted to my bandsaw in my wood shop. Used it when working on engine too.
So I like that concept. http://www.grizzly.com/products/Magneti ... ight/G5683

Re: '50 L112 Build

Drove the truck to work today....10 miles...back roads. I have the front fenders, grill, and hood on. Part of getting 100 miles of break in engine time before adjusting lifters and changing break-in oil from overhaul. I need to add new rubber trim all over. plenty of squeaks with out the rubber barrier. I even drove it at lunch to get a spare ignition key.

Got lots of head turns and smiles. Seeing a 1950 IH pick-up sitting in a parking lot with more current vehicles, does tend to stick out a bit.
Brings a smile to this old boys face to know I own that cool old truck.

When I arrived at work...I notice my one ballcap between the grill and radiator. Fell off the other night working on the horn wire and I must of missed where it landed and forgot about it. :t3716:

I adjusted the headlights and drove around after dark tonight. High beams work adequately..low beams seem too dull to me. I'm sure the high beam is comparable to today's low beam on current cars since the lights seem to get brighter with each model. With the slower speeds it works fine.

Be nice to have a dash light that shines down on the knobs. Dash is dark at night....even the gauges could be a little brighter than what the adjuster knob allows. LED bulbs may help there.

Good for you! Drive 'em!!!!
I know the feeling the first time I drove my truck to work in amongst the late models. Sticks out quite noticeably especially when you park away from the others to protect it. Got lots of looks from the other workers, too. Back in the '70's when it was my second vehicle, it didn't seem to be so noticeable in the parking lot. Time's change!

Re: '50 L112 Build

Well, since I need to work on the body...not too worry about marks on it next to cars....not sure I would notice at this point.
I threw on the mirrors I had....I favored the square ones more but these are growing on me. Driving naked with out bumpers and a bed. :t1812:
I will install the bed and rear fenders...I need to weld new mounts to running boards so need to get things aligned first so I can mark the locations.

HMM? Let's see here, you drive around naked except for some mirrors you threw on and you have something growing on you. Interesting!

Here is a thread about dim headlights-

I like CB89's recommendation to switch to 6V halogen lamps.

Hey Niki, vinyl seats and nakedness... No wonder I get stares driving around.

I'll say it again, If you want bright headlights, go for the 6 volt H-4's (55/60 watt) and good heavy cables and grounds. It will be as bright as every modern 12 volt headlight.

Are the headlamp beam adjustments the same on the H4's? .... 25' in front of truck...3" below headlamp center, measured from ground. I don't think any inspection garage adjusts headlights anymore.

The thing I like best about vinyl seats is the Whoopi Cushion sounds they make against jeans. My wife and GF hate vinyl seats because they say they stick to the vinyl and it feels like a waxing.
