Re: My L110 Rebuild

This is just the way it happens when the differential is not under load. Don't worry about it. There are a few exceptions to this and you should not be concerned about the exceptions now. If you really need to know, PM your phone number to me and I will explain what Is happening.

So I don't have to worry about till it becomes a problem, which with my luck it will. Thanks for the info.

Re: My L110 Rebuild

I've made some progress in the past few days, got the frame painted black now and starting to put stuff back together. Ran into a little snag on wheel bearings that I was hoping to get some direction on. Seems as all my local bearing places have no means of finding replacement bearings or seals for me so wondering where do you go to find them? See rock auto has some selections but not all of them are listed there.

Re: My L110 Rebuild

If you clean up the bearings you have you should find a bearing number on the cups and cones that any bearing supplier can use to supply you with the right bearings the same hold true with seals, but these can be harder to find the number on.

Re: My L110 Rebuild

I found the numbers on the bearings but 2 different retailers told me they couldn't find a match for them in all of north america. I find that a little hard to believe so wanted to see where others got theirs. Might have to take them right to their parts desk to do the measurements because the numbers don't seem to matter to them I guess.

Try Motion Industries or Berry Bearing. You can also try SKF Or Timkin catalog. Can you post the bearing numbers?

Kaman Bearing in my area is also good. I have found Motion Industries to be a very good place also.

Re: My L110 Rebuild

Went to the MT-63 International parts book for the L-110/L-120...found the following part numbers for the front wheel bearings:

Outer cup: 83921 H
Outer cone: 83920 H
Inner cup: 13822 V
Inner cone: 1165 Y

Then I went to the SKF bearing interchange found here: http://www.skf.com/binary/12-66347/457013.pdf.

The SKF numbers are:

Outer cup: BR 12520
Outer cone: BR 12580
Inner cup: BR 14274
Inner cone: BR 14130.

For NATIONAL bearings, drop the "BR" from the SKF numbers.

Lo and behold...NATIONAL part numbers 12520, 12580, 14274, and 14130 are the same numbers shown on the Rock Auto website for an L110. And the front wheel bearing seal--IH number 2071 Y--is NATIONAL number 7600S.

It seems that eBay sellers have an ample stock of EACH bearing, plus the seals, as of 2:10 PM EDT on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. [Local availability CAN and WILL vary.]

As a parts guy most of my life, I learned to use all the resources available to me to search for a hard-to-find part. So these bearings are NOT made of "unobtanium"...at least not yet. So don't give up...the bearings, like the truth, IS out there...

Re: My L110 Rebuild

thanks for the work buzz. Do you have any numbers on the rear bearing and seals by chance? Rockauto has none to speak of as far as I can see. My rear bearing is Timken #3382-T and the cup is #3320. seal is too far gone to get a number off.

Re: My L110 Rebuild

The correct rear axle bearing numbers you have are correct.

As far as rear axle seals, you should be aware that the axle bearing uses regular wheel bearing grease, as it is NOT lubricated from/by the differential. The inner axle seal is National number 40185, and the outer is either National number 5M289 in felt, as the original was, or National number 451948 in nitrile.

Hope this helps.
