http://www.osairstrip.ca/ these guys do the best metal cleaning in this area.

Thanks for the info. I should have been more clear with the "sand" blast, I will be using glass. I have access to an industrial media blaster through work so I will be taking on the job myself. Although I may have a look at their prices and see if it is worth it for the hassle of me setting up an area, paying for media, etc..

Don't forget to include some breathing protection in your budget. These abrasives are deadly to lungs. If you remove the old paint the surface will start to rust instantly, in this weather. When I had our 1940 Ford done at Air Strip we talked about introducing a primer sealer option after the metal cleaning, I do not know if anything was done by AS.

I will be sure to keep a respirator on hand. The nice thing about the unit I can get is it is a water vapour blaster, so all the glass will be encapsulated. I will just have to make sure to give all the pieces a good dry with the blow gun.

Thanks Dean. Yes, it is my first project vehicle and I am pretty excited for it. I had a look at your S series, assuming it is the blue/white S-120. Looks and sounds like an interesting project. I have the same S-120 in the blue/white. It is my parts truck. So far it has donated door latch catchers and the spare tire mount.

Looking good. I have a 56 S-110 and will start a rebuild soon. Don't toss any extra parts! I'm not that far from Van. Curious as to how many hours you put into stripping it down to the frame and removing the bed?

Thanks, I will be sure to keep all the parts I am not using that aren't junk. I know as of now I will not be using any of the stock front suspension, and I wont be using the engine or transmission. I have probably put about 25 hours in to stripping it. It should be quite a bit faster for you as I ran into an issue where the previous owner had spot welder the side steps and rear fenders to the body and box. Made for an interesting challenge haha.

The blue/white one is not mine. Mine still looks pretty much like my avatar pic at this point.

Spent some time this weekend and stripped the rest of the parts off of the frame. I also prepped the differential housing to be blasted. I am going to try out the glass media with the blaster sometime this week on the diff housing and my inner fenders to see how it works with the sheet metal. I also moved my cab onto some stands so it is ready to be torn down.

Tried out the blasting unit using glass media on my differential housing and on an inner fender this afternoon. Worked great for the housing and will work well on my frame, but it pits the metal just enough to not be able to use it on my body panels.

Possible Soda blasting or walnut shell blasting, there is also the DryIce blasting that I have seen. Just some thoughts.
