Sound like a good plan. I found a dimensional drawing online that lists a 6BT at 34.76" from the back of the head to the front of the water pump, so the DTA360 is about 3 1/4" longer.

Yes it has been said to be about 4" longer then a 6bt and 4" shorter then a 466.

So I'm trying to get the engine running better, it runs but not right. The engine sounds fine, smells rich, but acts lean. It needs about half choke and if I use any throttle it tries to die. There is a brass fitting on the carb body just in front of the bowl that is open to the atmosphere. Is there supposed to be something attaching here acting like a vacuum or something?

Got it running on all 6 cylinders now. Found out that even though the plugs looked fine they were still not working. Replaced them and the coil. Now to figure out what's with the fitting.

Re: 57 S112 Resto-mod

I have yet to find any referance to the brass fitting on the carb. I feel that it's the cause of my drain back problem. We rebuilt the fuel pump and it runs even stronger but I have an electric pump to replace it here soon.

On another not I've continued to research possible parts donors for the 1 ton running gear. I have a feeling that a 90s F-Superduty/F450 will be the best option to make it happen. The chassis cab frame is similar in size and shape to the original and the solid I beam axle will be much easier to adjust fit. Not sure at this point, but I'll continue reading but the F450 may actually work as a body swap rather then a suspension swap.

I've gotten the engine to run pretty good now. So I think it's on to the next step of gettin things roadworthy.
