Having replaced my trucks' steel bed floor with a wooden floor, I can offer two explanations for the raised floor. There could be other reasons, also, but I can't think of them. One: the wooden floor possibly is laid in over the steel floor. Two: the steel floor may have been removed and for whatever reason, the new floor installed at a higher level ( access to bolts maybe ). I know the supplier of the bed floor that I got mine from offers a slip in floor that fits over the original steel floor. To install a floor like that, would require some method of tightening the nuts (underneath) on the hold down bolts. How that is accomplished is a question that will need to be answered by someone who's done or seen it done. Perhaps assemble the floor outside of the truck and then insert it into the bed. Can anyone say "AWKWARD".
Whatever the reason, that truck looks really nice!
