Re: KB2 S10 FRAME SWAP

had to make new motor mounts, motor was to far forward with the s10 v8 mounts. lowered motor so I don't have to cut bottom of firewall for trans clearance. cant go any lower because of fuel pump, still might have to trim firewall depends on cab mounts. the problem ive had since I bought the KB is its tall, my garage is short (1 1/2) car garage built in the fiftys with the solid flip up door, so I need to lower truck to get in and out of garage without letting air out of tires (not fun)

It is time for an electric fuel pump, right MM?

Re: KB2 S10 FRAME SWAP

Wolfeman, if you drop a long bolt down the KB rear cab mounts into the S10 rear cab mounts you will have good wheel placement with the front and back fenders. Wes gave me that info, and it worked out well for us. You will have a lot of work with the rad / steering box fitment. Just finished a KB2 / S10 a month ago, you have a great start, good luck......

I am old enough to have had many times more mechanical fuel pump failures. In the last 30 years, the only electric fuel pump failure I had to deal with was my son's Jeep Wrangler. It was his fault for running around with a few gallons in the tank and the pump got too hot and quit. My R120 with a 6.9 Diesel had an OEM mechanical fuel lift pump that failed every 10,000 miles or so. I changed it out for a Holley electric vane pump, with a regulator and an excess fuel return and the failed pump situation went away.
My Dad put a 6 volt electric fuel pump in his 1953 R120 in about 1954 because the mechanical pump started to fail and leaked gasoline into the crankcase.
I bought a the contents of a large storage locker that was full of Old IHC L&R everything, including two "L" pickups. There was about 65 mechanical fuel pumps in that lot. I dumped them all in the company scrap bin. Every now and then I find another mechanical fuel pump from one of the 14 IHC pickups I parted out. The pumps go straight to the scrap bin. I cannot get anyone to pay the shipping let alone give me a few bucks for the pump, so out to the scrap they go.
What say you MM?
