Removing the door lock mechanism

Hello and thanks for taking time to read this.

I was fortunate to find that Scout door handles which have a built in lock cylinder share the same 5/16ths square shaft and same size escutcheon and hole pattern as the handles on my 1948 KB2 Panel. With a little modification ( forming a relief so they clear a secondary interior panel ), the Scout shafts the work fine, ( I did have to make a longer shaft for the rear panel door ).

Question, the passenger side locking mechanism acts as though it has spring failure, not surprised, I want to leave the glass in until after getting the paint removed from the exterior, is there a way I can remove the lock mechanism while leaving the window regulator in place and the window up?

PS, does any one know of a source for the door mechanism springs?

Thank you!
