ihcubman wrote:I have a similar "flare" set to what you describe that came off a 40's Dodge truck. I would say they were prob available through the dealer, but don't know for sure. I saved the flares and painted them up. Put the fluid for mosquito torches and use around the patio. Makes for good conversation and a cool reuse for them. When not in use they stack in the bracket.

My father bought a 1945 Ks5 new ,it came in to the dealer in January. He had waited 3 years to get the proper papers do to the war effort.
The truck was very simple, it had 6 wheels a seat, a steering wheel and a key, that was about all. It had no antifreeze in it, no vacuum booster on the brakes (the brakes were very poor until he added a vacuum booster) no heater, the heater had to be added from the aftermarket.
Dad built a 14 ft. flat bed on it too haul farm machinery , he also installed a power take of powered winch on it.
He used it until the early 60s, and that was one of the trucks that I learned to drive on.
It was not very fast or very powerfull.
Your post brings back a lot of memories.
