The bed is phase 2 , I have a hoist that came with it . I plan on putting a stake body low enough to use at least some of the back window . I think that flat beds look pretty good but not as functional . Here is a truck that I like that has some black spoke wheels that has me still thinking about painting my bud wheels black .

Nah, keep 'em red, black is so...well, black.

The red wheels look sharp on your truck. I like the classic look they give it. Personal preference I guess, I'm sure black would work well also since you have a black frame. My truck has a ways to go before I put a bed back on it. I would like to fabricate a new flatbed with a four foot high headache rack, stake pockets, removable stake sides and a cutout in the headache rack for the cab rear window. My old truck bed is pretty rusty underneath, but with the price of new steel, it may end up back on the truck after a new paint job.

Excellent build thread Eric, for a beautiful truck. I'm looking forward to seeing the bed on it too. It will be outstanding. It's obvious this is a labor of love for you and I like the fact that you don't take the easy ways out but go for making it last and look good for the long term. That's a real head turner.

500+ miles on this thing so far , can't tell for sure how many because the 2 speed rear diff and od trans. Every thing running pretty good , I'm getting better at shifting and in general driving . Motor is starting to break in and loosen up a little bit . I just finished the rest of the small panels painting and glovebox and will be ready to try and get my brother to make a vidieo to show you guys some truck in action shots .

Glad the initial shakedown is going well, I'm looking forward to that day,too. Great job on a great looking and functioning truck!

Thanks Mac, looks like it won't be long before you get to where it looks like you are headed with your truck .

I'd like to think it will be sooner than later but I just ordered the complete wiring package and that will take 4-6 weeks. Would also like to chrome the windshield frame , bumper and ass't goodies and that will take about the same I'm told, so I'll be a while yet. Two more grill strips to go and the grill will be done. The cab is about 90% done, but I still have box to do. I did it this way cuz I just had too many parts scattered, didn't want them to get damaged, I have less of a chance if they're assembled. I could have ordered a bunch of stuff and not wait, but I like to pay as I go, so . . . . patience.
