That has to be one of the nicest looking trucks I've seen. Great work all around. And keep those wheels red!

How is that brownie working out? What shifter did you use? Looks like I won't be getting to mine until next summer probably.

Re: 1948 KBS 6

I'm going to put the auxillary trans in this winter , it's going to take some doing and I plan on switching to the t-34 at the same time . I will need to go thru the spicer for bearings and a look over before then . I have the good fortune of living about 50 miles from a pretty old junkyard , has an R series truck pretty good size with one of the larger spicers in it . I think that it shifts about the same and still has the shifter , at least until I take it out .
Here is the way my dash turned out , found everything thru this site .

Re: 1948 KBS 6

here is the infamous T-34 , it bolts up just like the f-51. I do know where there is another one . I have gotten pretty good with the f-51 and would not be unhappy if that's what I ended up using , as a matter of fact I think that for nostalgia sake it is what should be in it , but hey t-34 ..? why not

Can't really see the insulators very good, might be a good idea to take one set out, they could be different top & bottom(?). Post some pics then and measurements, the hole for sure. I have a couple HD truck catalogs that may have something suitable.

Re: 1948 KBS 6

WIll do , thanks Scottso . put about 100+ miles on yesterday , now at 700 + , motor is really doing great . I am getting to the target top end speed ,, 57 mph at 2750 rpm . I have to change the front main seal , there is a small leak , I used a newer type seal that I may have buggered up on the install . I have one of the older type leather and felt I think and will switch it out . Also going to check the pilot bearing in the flywheel ,didn't change it when I should have and a few times have had a little chattering ,not sure that it would cause that but when I was looking at doing the trans install and lining up the trans with the bellhousing pins and the dial indicater to the center it was talking about .005 tolerences , if the bearing was worn that may be out . May help with the shifting also .
