Re: '45 KS7

I got the opportunity last year to drive a modern Case IH mower setup, nowadays it is like riding in a car (on rather rough road at times), not near like my teen years on the seat of an "M" model (without radio or umbrella) cultivating - had the best tan in the area though!
1954 R-122 long bed - restored as stock as "reasonable"
Honda Z50 K1 - restoration "almost completed"
Honda CT70 K4 - original
(2) Honda US90 K0 (ATC K0) - one restored, one original

Re: '45 KS7

What year was your's? The one I drove was a '57, same as me, but we also had a '49 we used mostly to run the belt drive of the wagon lift when we put the grain in the crib. Mine had the front mount cultivator too, but my two brothers ran JD 4020's (one even had a cab) and they used the rear mount. I used gas, they diesel - had to use a split carry tank in the back of the pickup when the three of us were running from field to field cultivating...man, I miss that for some reason. :t3717:

Re: '45 KS7

It's a '49 or '50, been a while since I looked up the serial number. I got it when Dad retired from farming. Getting ready to fix the oil leaks and give it a repaint.

Back to the threads true subject...

CB has a BD282 in the classifieds that would probably drop right in with little fuss.Shipping would likely be very reasonable compared to everything needed for a swap to diesel.

Thanks Scott. I need to get with lbesq first as he is local.

Don't take this the wrong way, but diesel is one wire and weld in two new perches for the motor mounts or a few new cab mounts on a bread van frame. Ok a bit more work then that :t3716:

I will be going by the shop and have a look at the motor/ see if I can find the boss with the engine size. Do not want you to miss something if this will not work.

Re: '45 KS7

One wire & 2 welds??? I think not!
You'll need a radiator that will fit and sufficiently handle the "new" engine, the electrical system will have to be converted to 12 volt/neg. ground, you'll need a diesel fuel tank and that's just the tip of the iceberg. The engine chosen should also be from a truck that has hydraulic vacuum brakes so there's a vac. pump to supply the H-vac,and old enough to have mechanical injection.

Am I reading right?,swapping the cab to a different chassis??? Ludicrous!

The 282 (and 308) need the oil filter re-located to fit in a K, the stock place is in the way of the steering box.
That being said, MY 282 was supposed to be a runner, needs the head machined where the manifold sits (was run with a leaking gasket), but the price is right (free, but will accept donations up to scrap value). I can help load.
