1936 C1

Hi: I am in need of a good passenger door (skins maybe) for my 36 C1 and if possible a place or name to get cab corners.
I plan on this being my last truck and am looking at making it a very nice daily driver.

Re: 1936 C1

There's more than one door. Late series they went to all steel doors. The earlier doors are kinda skins to begin with. They just tack over wood.
The regulators and how they installed changed, too. We need more info.

Re: 1936 C1

Thanks for your reply, I will attempt to include a couple of pictures. The VIN is C165383 if that helps.
Have patience, swift and mentally sharp are not regularly attributed to me these days, but; my ex still likes me from afar.

Re: 1936 C1

Looks like late production C?
The "corners" come off seperately from the cab on early models. They encompassed the entire "corner" of the cab from top to bottom. Maybe you just need to buy another early C series cab for parts?
The early cabs (with rotten wood removed) pretty much lay flat except for the cowl. Would be cheap to ship "cowl back"? I'm trying to open up avenues for you (to your ex?). :)

Re: 1936 C1

Divorced that lovely lady in "81", moved 2500 miles west and we've been getting along ever since.

The truck is actually in pretty good shape - my lungs won't allow me to do the dusty, fumes and other stuff I would like to do so I am trying to find ways to make it easier for others to do the work and easier on my pension and pocketbook. I was hoping someone would have thought of building cab corners that could be replacements. My concern is, getting the corner right, I would even settle for a mold if there was one out there - it would be nice, not necessary though.
I would like the door, fixing the initial work will cost more hours than it is worth, so I was hoping to replace it. Has anyone ever tried to use another door as a replacement such as a 34 to 36 Dodge or Plymouth pickup?????

Thanks much

Re: 1936 C1

I just got a chill up my spine! Cool old truck!
All these "square" old truck cabs look the same and none are, unfortunately. If nothing else the belt lines and hinges won't line up between makes.
I think you have a late-production C-1 that uses all-steel doors. Finding another all-steel door might be a chore. Better fix what you have?
Good news is that your old truck is amazing! Can we have more pictures?

BTW, I own a C-1 and just that picture makes me want to run out and work on it.

Re: 1936 C1

Glad I could be an inspiration.

Bought this truck in Arizona, had it brought to Washington, picked it up there with a one ton (had a flat-bed tow-truck meet me so we could line it up and pushed it on the truck) - they saw the Canadian plates, shook their heads, and gathered around to watch the operation - let a little air out of the tires and tied it in. Lungs gave out shortly after I got home and left the little truck in the back of the one ton for two years, made for great storage.

Re: 1936 C1

more pictures

They threw a coat of primer over the bodywork in the two pictures before the primer went on - it took 8 months and they charged me $8000 - have to redo most of what they did, not my favourite people. The hazards of not being there.
I do love the little truck and have included a picture of one of my dream interiors.
The pictures with the primer were taken at the new shop, I had taken it there for a few days prior to taking it to Chilliwack to store it in my daughter's garage - the guys there talked about it and then made me a deal to fix the bad stuff that I couldn't refuse - from a sewer into a rose garden, go figure.
I threw a picture in that shows the reason you take things apart in order to do a proper job - they primed evergreen needles and stones between the fender and the box, who knows how long they have been there.

And that is my story to date.
Thanks much
David
