starter out

1940 coe getting the starter out ? the 3 bolts are off and wires of the sloind ? will not move tap with hammer on the end no good ? Thanks :t0174:

Take a picture? That really helps.
Stock engine---flathead or OHV six OR?
Updated engine?
I have no way of knowing.
Starters are heavy and usually just want to fall out after you take out the bolts.
Are you saying it's stuck in the bellhousing?
Take a mirror and look for another starter bracket (I've never seen one on an old IHC) or another mounting bolt and then tap sideways on the end with a hammer. Tap, not slam. You might need what you are hitting.
Not being a smartass---did you try jumping ( with jumper cables) battery right to the starter? Lots of places to loose good connection on an old truck.

got it out with help of the starter guy it was stuck in the flywheel and with me moving the flex and him tapping got it out thanks

Return to 1940 and Older
