Distributor Vacuum Advance Unit

I will be verifying whether my vacuum advance is working properly this coming weekend, but in case it is indeed time to replace, does anyone know where I can find a vacuum advance unit for a Delco-Remy 622R distributor? The part number for the vacuum advance itself is Delco-Remy 1864322 or 681-E.

The only other option that I have seen is a couple places offer vacuum advance rebuilding services, but then you are without for at least two weeks, and we are running out of summer!

Thanks,

John

Re: Distributor Vacuum Advance Unit

Someone a while back posted a thread on taking a modern GM advance taking it apart, and using it to restore an old unit, might have been in the LRS threads.

Hi John, CB is right, I rebuilt mine but it is from a '49 Kb, 2 1/2" diameter diaphragm. Not sure what yours measures. The thread is in the K-Kb section. I balked at NOS. Even if it was new it could still be 50+ yrs old.

Thanks guys - I'll check it out. You're right - even if you find a NOS, the diaphragm in that thing is likely to be dried up and hard.
