1928 International

I have a 1928 International 4 cylinder 6 speed and I am trying to find a generator for it. The one currently in it is not charging. Can't find anyone who can rebuild it. The model of generator is a Delco Remy 942A 6 volt.

Might look to see if something from a Farmall might work. As long as the bolt up, head throw, and teeth match up, should work. just my thoughts.

Re: 1928 International

Why did they say they couldn't rebuild? Can't find suitable field coils? Or is it the gear itself that has them concerned?

Re: 1928 International

I don't believe there is a concern with the gears, it's more about redoing the wiring internally and the shaft may be bent.

Re: 1928 International

Try and find a old school auto electrician and they will be able to fix it up as long as it is complete.

Re: 1928 International

The generator needs to be from a truck with the Waukesha engine as the distributor drive is an integral part of the end plate. It is a different generator than what the Lycoming uses.

Re: 1928 International

Harvey Brothers in Galesburg Illinois can rebuild. They are an old time shop, I have never heard a complaint on their work.
