Re: d5

I've only heard about them, never seen one.
Here in Central CA we only seem to have D-2, D-30, D-35.
Please post pictures!
If it's the four cylinder version you really ARE different!

Re: d5

According to the Wisconsin Historical Society the D2 & D5 shared most components, the biggest difference seems to be the D2 had a 6 cyl. engine & the D5 the 4 cylinder, also the D2 only offered 4:18 gears in the rear axle where as the D5 offered the 4:18's & 5:11's

Re: d5

Fred Crismon's IHC book lists the D5 as an economic version of the D -2. It was for lighter loads and more horizontal streets, I think.
Lots of commercial vehicles only carried minimum loads.
My D-2 panel from Reedley, CA was a radio, hi-fi and then TV delivery truck. Reedley is a small place. I doubt it ever had more than a rew units in it at any time.
My opinion is please keep it stock as possible or save that 4 cyl drivetrain for a IHC enthusiast like me. It's unusual!

Re: d5

Yankeefan, your link about only 4:18 gears available in D2s is hilarious and true.
Southtowns banged his head for years trying to find the elusive 3.xx factory gears for his truck?
Oh, this stuff can be tough!

Re: d5

I wonder what the top speed of a D5 with 5:11's is, at 45 mph My D2 sound like its ready to explode. :t3717:
