Some pics of my 1936 C30 1 1/2 ton ,172 inch wheelbase truck. I tried to put them in my intro post the first time and had a bit of trouble trying to resize them. I am trying to figure out the best way to get away from the split rims but keep the center of the wheel stock. Can i use a 22.5 inch demountable rim ? The narrowest one i can find that is still available is a 7.5 inch wide. My tires say 700-20 32-600, i believe my stock wheels are 6 inch wide. any advice sure appreciated. thanks Baker1USA

Basically the answer is no on the 22.5 rim, not because it will not fit over the spokes, it will, but because it is too wide. The spokes in the back are not wide enough to mount dual 7.5X22.5's and on the front the tierod end will prevent turning as it will be inside the rim. They are designed for the narrow rims/tires of the day and modern wider tires will not fit.
The rims you have are a Goodyear lock ring design and aren't the real bad Firestone RH 5 deg semi drops. My advice is: if your rims are not rusted out (they can be rusty, but if still solid, its ok) then clean, paint and learn how to mount your own tires.
If you live near me, I'll give you a lesson on them for free (I live in western Iowa)
Those rims, if they are the ones I think they are, have a solid lock ring and the rim is split across the valve stem slot. They are a bit tricky but safe if assembled correctly. I have several of them on my K-7. There are some more common 5.5x20 lock ring styles that have a solid rim and split lockring, but they are hard to find and will be as old as what you have. Your rims measured from inside flange to inside flange are likely 5.5 or 6"

You are stuck with those rims if you want to keep the centers.
Always nice to see a C-30. I've had three.

What are the options if I do not keep the centers? Best place for tires ?

Coker Tires. I have the Firestone 600-20 Bias Ply | Truck Tires on the front, and the 650-20 Firestone Antique Truck Tires on the back of my C-30. Never had a problem, great tires.

Hey Tony,My truck has 700-20 all the way around. But I looked up to see what was stock on my truck. I guess back in the day someone put bigger tires on it. The Wisconsinhistorical society website has my truck with 30x5 front and 32x6 rear. I think I am going to put 700-×20 on the front and 650-20 On the rear. The font will only be about 1/2 inch taller than the rear.

I used the used the split rims on mine with 7.5x20 I don't have it all done yet so I done know how well it will turn yet with the bigger tires on it. I do have all the tires on and they fit well, but while I was mounting the tires I had one come apart and it scared the sh_t out of me and broke some boards in the roof of my garage but no one was hurt. It was also a real pain to find another rim to replace the one that was wrecked in the process but when you mount the tires bolt them on the hubs of the truck before putting air in them this will push the rim out and lock the ring in tight so it can not come off. What happened with mine was the rim was a little bent to begin with and when I put air in it the tube pushed out by the stem and watch out.

I just got a chill up my spine!
A bent rim should be sent to the recycler. You don't want to go through that again!
There are spares out there. I have some. I took the rough rims and lockbeads in for weight. You're just asking for future trouble, I think.
You almost have to change entire axles to be able to put on the wheels you want. Newer stuff will always be wider than old stuff.
The C30 front spindles are relatively weenie things. 1/2 ton spindles they look like.
Do you have hydraulic brakes or mechanical brakes?
Anyway, great to see another C30 on the forum.
