26 IH Bed design

I'm thinking of changing from a flat deck to a more sleek design for my truck box. This is what I have on the truck now, the first photo is what I am thinking of doing, I am looking at two metal fenders that measure 42" at the base with a 21" rise to cover the rear wheels.

Any thoughts to whether it would be a nicer fit to the finished product?

I like the top picture, makes it more of a Pickup. My Thoughts only.

My vote goes to the top picture with fenders.

Your current deck height is higher than the first picture. Does your truck currently have a dump bed or blocking between the frame and bed sills?

I think the rounded guards look really good with the narrow box but as yours comes out a lot wider not sure you will get the same effect.

I just used some straight guard's front and back on mine.

Re: 26 IH Bed design

We also looked at using a full rounded guard but it just didn't look ok also we didn't have enough room at the top of the wheel we needed another 3"-4". You might have enough room on yours.

Run a bit of string from the centre of your axle and see if the arc you wont to use will work before looking for the guards.

Re: 26 IH Bed design

I measured the radius and it seems a 20" rise will work with 5 to 6" of clearance. Keep in mind that I wont be hauling with this truck, that's what my new Ram is for.

I was thinking of making it look like a pickup rather than a farm truck.

I will have to modify the fenders to suit the existing running boards, they are 11" wide and the fenders come in 10.5" wide or 12". I was also going to fabricate the balance of the apron and running boards to close the sides off like this photo.

The 25 IH has a grain box and hoist, looks like the second photo

The 25 has a grain box and hoist, not sure what I am doing with the bed on this one yet.

Re: 26 IH Bed design

The steel guards we have been getting are imported from England and not bad pricing even with the freight.

Re: 26 IH Bed design

Looks like I would have to go custom to get the 11 inch width. I will contact to price.
Thanks Trevor
