I have a FAB2 I have new bearings for it m020 has anyone installed new bearings in one of these and would know what needs to be done? Bore block? install new bearings and bore the bearings? or grind the cam? This is the only thing holding me back from a completely fresh engine!http://oldihc.org/phpBB3/posting.php?mode=post&f=5&sid=26b03d6ffd949f2497ffcbbbbee70a9d#

Firstly you will need to check all the sizes with inside and outside micrometers and this will tell you what will be required.

First measure the inside diameter of the bare block and compare it to the outside diameter on the bearing shells this should be a light shrink fit.

Then measure the outside diameter on the camshaft and compare it to the inside diameter on the bearings you should have a small clearance on these two I can't remember what it is but it will only be .002"-003" from memory. I am sure someone will correct me with the proper sizes.

M 020 might mean they're .020 undersize, but that would be odd for cam bearings. They usually just press into the block and the cam fits. If the cam doesn't go in them I would think you need machine shop help.

I took it to six shops and they all told me I am screwed ( other word they didn't want to mess with it!) I finally called a old friend and told me who to talk to at small local shop and they got it on a lathe and are polishing it to the size of my bearings. The cam was not far off from my bearings any way only the rear cam bearing actually need any material removed off the cam. The rest of the cam just needed to be polished. Thanks for the help.
