6 speed special

i've heard that some 6 speed special were made in minneapolis st paul area because they can't keep up with demand I think I read in crimson book was there any record of how to tell which ones are made where thanks

Trucks were assembled in St. Paul only in 1929.
This was done to reduce shipping cost and delivery time. Apparently it was not deemed effective. Did the stock market crash influence the decision? Anyone's guess.

St. Paul assembled trucks are easy to identify, the serial # prefix is SPX, whereas Springfield Ohio trucks have a prefix of X.

So the first St. Paul assembled truck had a serial number of SPX 501. Serial # tag will be on the outside lower right cowl or inside the cab on the right hand dash.
Number is also stamped on the front frame horn between rivets 2 and 3. Sometimes they are stamped very faintly and you need to steel brush well to find it. Don't grind or you will destroy it.
