1920's Head Lights

this was moved to this forum by Lloyd

Need to purchase two headlights that mount on the cowl of a 1925 IH Speed Truck. I need the housings, bezels, lenses and mounting brackets.

Re: 1920's Head Lights

These are getting harder to find now a days I had Mike send me a couple over a few years back as I will need them for the 26 resto. If you needed to you could get a metal spinner to make you up some but that would be pricey.

The Guide Ray lights and lenses come up for sale on ebay occasionally.

I didn't know the name, thanks. I've been looking for drum shaped headlights, nothing comes up for IH.

Same basic headlight was used on tractors with a "TractorGuide" lens and a different retaining ring. So tractor nguys are snatching these truck lights up as well to put lighting kits on early tractors.
Guide was a division of GM by some point in 20s, likely one of W.C. Durant's acquisitions.

Re: 1920's Head Lights

Some 20s Chevys used the same basic Guide drum bucket stamping but the mounting bracket was different and the cable entry hole was in the back of the bucket rather than by the mounting bracket as the truck lights. Note that truck lights have right and left.
If you have the mounting brackets from a set of totally rusted out truck lights a pair of these Chevy lights could be reworked into truck lights.
These Chevy lights also had fluted reflectors and different lens and retaining band, so really all that could be used would be the basic drum bucket if you want a fully authentic set of lights.
It would still be far cheaper than having a new set of buckets fabricated.
