Fuel and water temp gauge problems

Having problems with both gauges on My 37 D2

When My truck is first started the water temp gauge pegs at 220 degrees then slowly settles down to about 130 degrees, all the wiring is new but I'm sure it's wired correctly as I labeled everything carefully before removing the old harness.

The fuel gauge never moves at all. Again all new wiring and a new sending unit. I've put an ohm meter on the sending and when the float is down as an empty fuel tank the meter read open and then when the float is at the top I can see the meter register resistance. There is 6v going to one side of the fuel gauge and the other side goes to the sending unit, also I also have the sending unit grounded. I believe its wired correctly but when I took the truck home all wiring to the back of the truck was non-existent. I'm thinking that putting 6v to one side of the fuel gauge and grounding the other terminal should peg the needle but not 100% sure.

The truck id 6v positive ground, the amp meter and oil pressure gauge work as expected.

As always any help is greatly appreciated

On the temp gauge, key off is all the way to hot, that is how it is supposed to be, key on, it will drop to cold with the engine cold, or to what ever temp the sender is at.

The way My water temp. gauge is working now is with ignition off it reads cold then with the key on it goes all the way to hot, sure sounds like its wired backwards, will double check My wiring including the cab ground.

Thanks Guys

The King Seeley gauges are thermal, so will not care which way the current flows. More likely is you have the wrong sender.

That's very possible as this isn't the original motor, it's a 233 GRD and from what I've read the 233 wasn't offered in the D2.

Ya,but the gauge system is the same. sounds like someone tried to use a modern sender.

Well, I have to ask it. Are there any compatible sending units out there that You know of.
