Rear wheel question

My truck has 2 different rear wheels on it. One has welded spokes, the other has the spokes welded inside. There is also a " seam" down the middle of the rim on the welded one. Hope you can make it out on the pictures. Anybody know anything about this? Different builder or year change ??Image

Re: Rear wheel question

Are they really welded? I don't think there was a lot of arc welding being done then and even less likely on cast iron. I'm guessing the molds for each wheel weren't quite the same. The mold or the casting itself for the wheel in the top picture must have been a Wednesday job and the bottom one Monday or Friday. ;)

Re: Rear wheel question

Jared

I think the wheels are cast steel will put a file to one tomorrow and confirm.

I would say the second one has had a repair done to it along it journey thru life. I have also got dome with a different centre section will have to get some pictures.

Re: Rear wheel question

I don't think its a repair, I think its made that way. First guess is that they are from different manufacturer. I need to look at my parts truck and see what it has.
