D2 Brakes

Well, now we are looking for brake hardware/springs. Are there any known part numbers for the front brake springs? Are there only two long retracting springs and one bottom spring? In the photo there is only one retracting spring shown, the other is broken. Thanks!

Re: D2 Brakes

I was able to find all the part numbers for brake springs, I believe it was on the old forum. I'll take a look tonight when I get home if no one else chimes in first.

Re: D2 Brakes

yankeefan, I sure would appreciate having the part numbers. I wondered if there was another short spring from the rear shoe to the tab on the backing plate. There were too many pieces in the drum when it was removed to be only one spring missing.
Thank you.

Re: D2 Brakes

Here's what I have for part #'s

HW402 - brake adjuster springs
HW7139 - kit

Both are avaliable on ebay

I don't have the part # for the small spring that goes from the center of
the brake pad to the tab on the backing plate as I was able to re-use mine.

Hope this helps

Re: D2 Brakes

Wow that sure looks like the correct long springs and adjuster springs. Ordered both of your numbers, we'll see them later today! I'll just need to find those small springs from the center of the shoe to the backer plate tab. I'll let you know how things work out.
Thanks,
-Snowman.

Re: D2 Brakes

Yankeefan - We got the right springs with the part numbers you provided. Thanks again. We have not been able to find the correct small spring though. Tried several different kits and numbers and they were all wrong.

Re: D2 Brakes

While looking at Restoration Supply Company's catalog I noticed they have a selection of brake springs, might take a look. You also might take a look here: http://www.jeep4x4center.com/brake-shoe-and-anchor-end-spring-805602.html Its for an old CJ5 Jeep but looks similar to what you need. (OK Scott, I'm old school I look for what works not what crosses from original) MM
