1927 S24 truck

I left at 0600 today and headed to Brookfield Missouri to get a 1927 IHC S24 truck. A couple of guys I know also went with a second truck and trailer to get an IHC B2 truck from the same guy. We all got there about 0930 and spent a couple of hours getting both trucks loaded and chatting with the owner. I arrived home at 1545 having traveled 412 miles  No major problems on the road, thankfully, had to fight a strong south wind all the way out and back though....

The owner said he got the S24 from Montana, it ran then and he DROVE it to this spot in 1985, parked it there for yard art and there it set for the past 29 years.

Great find and looks like it is 99% still intact. The wheel rims don't look to bad for sitting in the dirt for so long as they are normally the hardest things to find.

Keep us up to date with the progress

Re: 1927 S24 truck

I am afraid the rims look a lot worse up close and are severely corroded. If it had not been allowed to sink in the dirt for the past 29 years, they would still be intact... I have been rebuilding some of my antique IH tractors for the past several years and now I am thinking that to break the monotony I should work on either the '28 6speed special or this S24. I am leaning towards the S24 because it is more complete.

In the picture of the left side of the engine, there is a hole in the firewall just above the starter switch, does anyone know what the hole is for?

Re: 1927 S24 truck

I am afraid all 4 rims are shot... The wheels are corroded some as well, the left front is rusted through in one area. Does anyone have any leads on rims?
