Dads D30 build

My dad found a D30 dump truck that we are working on. The previous owners had already started it so we had a pretty good base to work with. I think we will need some help/questions answered and this looks like a good place to ask them.

So far the major things we have finished:
rebuilt the carb
cleaned out oil pan
cleaned up the air cleaner
cleaned up oil filter canister and installed new filter
cleaned out the fuel tank
installed inline fuel filter
Converted the electrical to 12v
installed windshield seal
replaced 2 tire tubes
Upgraded to modern gauges

The engine runs really well and we have been having a good time so far.

My first official question:

Does anyone have some good pics/info of how the hood hinge mounts to the body/front grill?

Lastly here are a few pics (dont have a good profile one yet, and will get a video uploaded soon too!)

Thanks for Joining! I will move this over to the right forum for your better answers. We Love pictures! If you want you can have me move it over to the build off area, or leave it here.

Welcome to the site!
That's a very nice looking truck. Where did you get the gauges? I don't believe I've seen those before, but they look great in that dash.

Thanks!

The gauges are from speed hut, you can custom design them and the speedo is GPS so we didnt have to worry about connecting to the trans.

Looking at the hood, its some contraption someone started. I think someone took long brass piano hinge and cut it and put it in the center split, but I have no idea how they were planning to fix it to the truck. I will have to get a pic next time we have it out.

Hopefully if the weather is nice this weekend we will take it out for another test drive and I can get some better pics of the whole truck.

These are the only pictures I have that sort of show the hinge.

Maybe I misread your question. The front hood hinge has a stud on it that goes through the grille shell sheetmetal. This same stud captures the ends of the radiator support struts that come off the firewall.
I don't think it's any harder than that.

We dont have the original hinge, unfortunately. The previous owner started making something up with a piano hinge and that we are going to try to figure out.

Here are a bunch more pics

The hood is clamped together on a table right now:

You can see the piano hinge better here: Image

Unfortunately dad is 'finished' with the project. He wants me to post it on ebay, but I was wondering if there is a better market for it?

Also what do you think is a reasonable price?

I had one like that until I sold it a year and 1/2 ago. Mine was all original and had the short wheel base with a dump body very similar to the one on this truck. Where are you located and could you send me a PM if you are seriously considering selling?- Thanks. Stickman207
