C-30 Question

Are early C-30 (mech brakes) backing plates RIVETED to the spindles??
And therefore are later C-30 (hydraulic brakes) spindles DIFFERENT??
Thanks in advance.

Re: C-30 Question

My 1935 C-1 ( mechanical brakes) and my 1936 C-15 (hydraulic brakes) have similar drums (neither are riveted). I would think the C-30 would not be riveted either, but can't say for sure.

Re: C-30 Question

This is the backing plate for the 1935 C-1 with mechanical brakes in as found condition. The drum was full of grease. It looks like a previous owner filled the dust cap with grease every 500 miles and screwed in in, forcing grease into the brakes.
