39 D2 - Chem Dip

Guys

Am considering having my 39 D2 cab chemically dipped... that is, unless you folks talk me out of it...
I had my front fenders dipped a while back, and the only issues encountered were the inner fender stiffeners broke loose from their spot welds... Wanted to get feedback from you guys to see what you think about the process..

Tks in advance

Re: 39 D2 - Chem Dip

i have not had it done, but based on articles i have read, below are some things i recall.

if there are rusty areas holding stuff together, they will come apart. most processes will be somewhat caustic and difficult to remove from inner structure areas and concealed passages, also it can get between panels at spot weld seams. thorough washing is paramount. also it is important to get primer on the bare metal right away to prevent flash rust. it is an incredibly effective process to get rid of all old paint, filler, rust. research the facility doing it, ask questions, get references. just my impressions without first hand experience. good luck.
