1931 A-5

Hello Trevor,

Here is my original running 1931 IH, model A-5. Equipped with IH's
first overhead valve 279 cu. in. engine. It was last run in 1952. She
had a hard life working for one road builder as a concrete batch truck.
At one point in her life, the frame broke and was repaired...
I put in a set of points and a new diaphram in the fuel pump and it runs...
Since then, I've updated it with a set of used tires.
Photos of it operating at the historical construction equipment assoc.
convention are attached.
Still in her work clothes - earning her keep.
Take good care.
-Marty

Very nice original condition and hows the shovel.

Re: 1931 A-5

A number of years ago, I had attended an ATHS truck show. There was a IH dump truck possibly the same model there. The guys at the show were trying to get the owner to take it through the wash line. The owner responded "Hell NO! This is a work truck!" Your truck reminds me so much of it but I haven't found the photo yet. Odd that I would remember the dirty beat up work truck over all of the spit and polished ones. I think yours is in the same category!! MM

I really like that windshield set up , also noticed the way the bed is relieved above the rear wheels for those extra heavy loads . Back then they really got the most out of those old trucks it only goes to show just how heavy duty they were built that any are left at all . Really nice .

Marty Great old truck, I like the original lettering on the side. There is a slope nose out there for you. Jim
