Paint decision 94 in April of 34, Black was standard with option of light green, dark green, and ivory. Then in October of 34 paint decision 94-1 they added Harvester Red as an optional color. MM

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

There's a thread here that has cab wood dimensions for the A and B model but I don't recall one for the C yet?
C is definitely a different cab.
Are you restoring, hot rodding, updating, gonna drive all the time??
My advice these days would be to replace wood with metal.
I don't know anyone making wood kits like there are for Chevy.
C series wood content varies with year and factory where it was made. That's a fact!
Early C models were erector set/ lincoln log picture puzzles! Say '34 '35?
I know because I have one or two.
They made the C into early 1937 and those have the least wood.
Especially prized are the all-metal doors. Late production.
Which one do you have??
On the HAMB I've seen folks reinforce their termite trucks with electrical conduit.
It's cheap and easy to bend. Evidently works, too.
I can hear BOOS from the traditionalists!
OR, you can purchase the hard-rock maple and cut out the wood pieces using what's left of your wood as a pattern.
These pieces are complicated in any instances. However, we humans can overcome this challenge.
As far as the pieces that are completely missing or too- far gone.
What then?
On my C series cab I got the doors to fit as close to perfectly as possible an then temp. welded straps to hold the cab in place.
Then had a pretty close idea of what the floor looked like.
Originally the C floor had two heavy pieces of wood laying flat about the dimensions of a 2x8 or so (but tapered) inside each door connecting the cowl feet and front cab feet to the stamped metal boxes in each rear corner of the cab.
If this all sound complicated and overwhelming you can sell your present project and move up a year or two to the D Series IHC (1937-40).
It's ALL STEEL! YAY!!!
Good luck, Don
Btw the red C-30 is just a picture I found on the HAMB.

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

Don,
I have an early 1935 ,the doors are 1/2 wood (wood frame metal skins)
The floor is in perfect condition with all original wood.
The only wood missing is the top back of the cab and the verticals
that attach to the top.
I intend to restore but not even repaint, I love the patina!
Just need to get it back on the road.
It is set up as a grain hauler tilt bed.
Thanks
Rick

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

Great, I think you can fix that.
So the metal roof is lifting off?? The early ones aren't welded to anything.
I think it's unusual the way yours is coming apart but it's a good unusual.
I have a C-30 out here " unmolested" except by time and termites.
Next time I walk out there I will attempt to take a picture of what you're talking about.
There's no indication on yours how the vertical wood strips go around the rear wdo and attach to the back of the cab??
I think common is three total vertical strips of wood from floor to rear wdo?

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

There are only two vertical strips and one horizontal around the window.
The entire top wood and half of the verticals are totally gone.
the verticals and horizontal have enough left for me to duplicate but the curved top piece would be hard
(not impossible ) for me to duplicate
the back of the cab(metal) seems to be made of three pieces which are held together by the verticals.

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

Yes, I have one of those.
The rear of the cab is three pieces, two corner curved pieces and a center flat sheet wih rear wdo in it.
Problem is, mine is in pieces no wood.
So I gotta ask...
The top rear pieces usually survive fairly well because they are protected by the cab roof.
Did the cab roof fly off in a wind storm or...
Just trying to piece together the scene of the crime...
Maybe a coupla pics??

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

The board seems to have simply rotted away, leaked water and rotted?
the truck came from Montana so maybe snow sat in the leaking seam
don't know but need to replace it
pictures would be a learning thing for me
