A BIG thanks to our friends over at Smokstak for pointing out this great video of the Dodge Brothers cars being built circa 1917.

I especially liked the non use of power hand tools. The steep test ramp was also amazing, just how many 2 wheel drive cars would pass it today?

You can't talk about the Dodge Bros without talking about the old man Henry Ford.
Did you see the public television biography a few weeks ago?
He was a genius and a SOB.
Drove his son to an early grave.
Had to be dragged kicking to the Model A. Then acted like it was all his idea.
Started off with the most progressive plant environment as far as workers go and ended up with secret police at the Rouge Plant.
Dodge Bros were major stockholders early on.
Faked his own career demise in order to bring stock prices down and then purchased his stock at a much reduced price.
Fascinating.

Thanks Mike , what a great post ,actually seeing those old guys in their overalls working on that old stuff . A real time look into the past . I really liked the part when they washed the body with gasoline before they painted it , with basicly a garden hose . I had always wondered how the original paint jobs were done .
