Re: 36 C1

Looked in my 1940 Motors manual.
They show a HD-2 HD-3 and HD-4 Then it jumps to the FAx series in the heavier trucks.
There was a HD engine that was smaller than the 213 , one hundred something. So looking at the book and making the best educated guess (I will be glad to be corrected if someone has some solid info) the HD 2 which came in the lightest trucks was the one hundred something and the HD3 would be the 213 and the HD4 would be the 232.
Unfortunatly my Motors manual doesn't list the internal specs for any, no bore, stroke or displacement given. Not even for the FAx series.
My K manual only lists the GRD engines, but does mention the smallest one at 175 CID, so I would guess HD-2 175, HD-3 213, and HD-4 232 or somewhere close to that.

Hey Unclejtl:

It has been awhile since you asked, but did you ever get a replacement headlight? By now you have probably discovered that the only difference between the left and right hand lights is the casting that mounts the bucket to the front fender.

I am doing a long term rebuild on my '35 125" wheelbase C1. It's about as rough as yours is (was?), and not quite as complete. If you have progress to report, please give us an update. It appears that this forum has not been very active lately, but I hope to be visiting more often.

Re: 36 C1

Hi brian, I never found a headlight, I have sold the truck. I was offered a good price, so I took it. we don't really have the funds for me to do it up as I would like anyway. I would have kept it if not for the good offer. I keep playing the lottery though, hahaha!

Re: 36 C1

Hi Unclejtl:

Thanks for the update. Hopefully your truck went to a good home (not some ratrodder!). My truck is rough in places, and I don't intend on a total restoration, out of my budget as well, but rather want to drive it as a "survivor".

Regarding the headlights, mine came with a rusty pair of Model A buckets with sealed beam conversions. I purchased a pair of original IHC headlights on ebay some years back, but had to buy the lenses separately.

Good Luck with the Lottery!
