1926 Spark advance

Could anyone tell me how to set the spark advance with the distributor for the 6 cyl Lycoming engine?
I set it as per the book but the engine starts and runs for a little bit and stall out. I got it running the other day with power when pushing the gas pedal down, now it wont stay running and it stalls out. Cant touch the throttle.

The points are set to specs, the plugs are new and set, the plug wires are new, the carburetor is rebuilt.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 1926 Spark advance

I changed the new coil out and it started.

Does anyone know what spark plug is best used for the 6 cy Lycoming engine is?
I currently have the Champion W10 that's factory set to .025 but the trucks manual has 1/32" as spark plug setting. Is there a plug better suited for the old engine?

Is that for 6 or 12 volt?

Re: 1926 Spark advance

I put the Auto Lite in and it runs a lot better with that plug.
Thanks for the tip.
