In Canada I think Fargo's were produced until the 70's. Canadian Fargo's were built in Canada, but the U.S. also produced them to sell internationally. In Canada back in the day there were Chrysler-Plymouth and Dodge-Desoto dealers. Dodge-Desoto dealers sold Dodge trucks, and Chrysler-Plymouth dealers sold Fargo's.

A friend had noticed that besides the aussie IH's having different bonnets (hoods) than US models, Some of the aussie dodges looked to have IH cabs, any ideas on this?

Look in grey book on page 321, the second full paragraph. Dodge and IH of Australia were using some of the same sheet metal.
I thought that I had read at some point that the Aussie IH trucks used Dodge built cabs, but this looks the other way.
It'l give you something to research while you are setting there in toasty warm Arizona! Ha ha!

bILL, Sorry to say I didn't make it to Arizona this winter. Right now lying around with left arm in a sling, total shoulder replacement was done Thursday morning. Can't pick up the book for a couple weeks. Physical therapy for 16 weeks. MM

I think from memory the cabs were made at the Chrysler plant in Adelaide Australia and shipped to Victoria for IH to assemble.

Don't think it was the other way.

Been away at another event over the weekend so will post a link to some more pictures later.

This show was at Clunes in Victoria Australia a small country town about 1-1/2 hours West of Melbourne just north of Ballarat.

We had about 150 trucks attend this event weather was a nice warm 32c/90f

The fargo name was very common here in Canada. Fargos began in 1929 I believe but only as fleet vehicles, I don't know when they were established as a brand for Plymouth dealers. The name continued until 1971. We didn't have Plymouth trucks. I have a 1959 Fargo.

This one was a 180 mile road run from Melbourne to Albury using the old Hume Highway as much as possible we had 220 + trucks on the run. I didn get many pictures at all as most of the day was on the road as we pulled out of home at 5.15am to head to the start line to be ready for a 7.30pm start we had a couple of 15 minute breaks along the road in the morning reaching our lunch stop at about 12.00pm at Winton Raceway (Motorsport complex) where all the trucks were put on display for the locals free of charge.
About 1.30pm we got back on the road heading for Albury arriving at the Albury Racecourse (horse racing track) were we would park up and set up our camping gear for the night. We had a sit down meal and auctions and heaps of laughs and quit a few beer drunk.
Sunday morning had another meet and great with the locals once again free of charge and at about 9.30am the awards were given out for things like loudest truck, lead foot, Most bullcrap spoken, Longest travelled (1200 miles), female drivers award, getting lost and the final one was the slowest truck and I didn't win it, it went to a Model T truck that did the trip at a max speed of 22-25mph. After the awards we loaded up and headed for home.

Fantastic weekend had by all.
